Texas Liberator’s
Honor Roll

The Texas Holocaust and Genocide Commission has taken the responsibility to assemble the names of Texas Veterans who participated in the European liberation of Nazi death camps, concentration camps, work camps, sub camps and POW camps. To be eligible for inclusion in the Honor Roll, the veteran had to be present at a particular camp within 3 days of it liberation or participated in the subsequent care or transportation of its survivors to alternate locations.

Veterans, relatives or known veterans, living or deceased, who wish to be included in the Texas Veteran Liberators Honor Roll are encouraged to provide the needed information at http://thgc.texas.gov/about/liberator-information-project. Information required will include:

  • Liberator’s name
  • Liberator’s date of birth
  • Where the Liberator was born and or place of residence in Texas before or after WWII
  • Dates of service
  • Rank
  • Service description (medic, platoon sergeant, etc.)
  • Unit(s) served
  • Branch of service
  • Liberator’s commanding officer (if known)
  • Name of the camp(s) they liberated
  • Dates of liberation
  • Contact information of person furnishing the information

More than 330 Texas veterans who participated in the liberation of 43 different camps have been identified. We wish to include all Texas veterans who participated as a part of this heroic time in history.
